Porsche Carrera GT Crash

The Porsche Carrera GT has been involved in at least 38 accidents since production began in 2004. Porsche had originally planned to produce 1,500 Carrera GTs, but they discontinued the model in 2006 after producing only 1,270, citing new airbag regulations. Porsche recently paid a settlement of $4.5 million to the family of a man killed in a Porsche Carrera GT accident. The lawsuit claimed the Carrera GT was not a safe car at high speeds.

History of the Carrera GT

The Porsche Carrera GT first began development in 2000 as a successor to the 911 GT1 which was discontinued in 1998. The Carrera GT has been very successful, selling more cars than Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes SLR, and Pagani Zonda combined.

Capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds with a 612 HP engine, the Carrera GT is one of the most advanced cars Porsche has ever produced. Some famous Carrera GT owners include Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, and Tiger Woods.
