Driver Comments: "I was heavily hung over from the night before and lost it at around 60mph on a tight bend, i still felt over the limit so i got out and ran to my brothers house. The police were searching everywhere for me but i eventually went to the station around 4 hrs later where i was breathalysed and it hit amber as i had told the police i had had a stiff brandy to calm my nerves. I told them i had run off due to sheer panic. The police nicked me for due care and attention, failing to stop, failing to report and 1 bald tire. I got 7 points and a fine. I think i was quite lucky as if i had stayed at the scene i would have failed the bag and been banned for sure. So if you're in doubt about your drink level, do a runner it saved my licence. The picture was front page news in the evening mail newspaper which covers all of Cumbria. I have a copy of it framed in my bathroom above the toilet, it makes good reading when you're having a piss."
