Description:
The driver of this 1978 MG was travelling to Mid-Ohio when construction forced him to straddle the right shoulder. The shoulder dropped off considerably causing the car to swerve as he attempted to get back in the travel lane. The car spun 180 degrees and went off the road into the end of an open guard rail. The impact destroyed the left rear wheel, bent the rear axle, and compressed the frame just behind the drivers seat by two inches. It was the frame area just in front of the wheel well that stopped the guard rail from entering the driver compartment.
