March 8, 2022 Two cars being driven at high speed on Business U.S. 41 in North Fort Myers collided with each other Sunday morning leaving several people with critical and serious injuries. A report from the Florida Highway Patrol said a Mercedes Benz and a Lamborghini were speeding on northbound Business 41, south of North Shore Avenue around 2:30 a.m. The patrol report said the Benz collided with a curb, lost control and then collided with the Lamborghini. The Benz ran off the road to the right, collided with bushes and standing trees, and overturned into the Caloosahatchee River. The Lamborghini traveled across the southbound lanes, rotated, overturned, collided with a light pole and became engulfed in flames. The driver of the Benz, a 40-year-old man from Port Charlotte, suffered critical injuries. There were two passengers in the Benz, a 27-year-old woman from Tampa who suffered serious injuries, and a 32-year-old man from Port Charlotte who had minor injuries. The driver of the Lamborghini, a 34-year-old man from Port Charlotte, suffered minor injury. A 30-year-old female passenger from Port Charlotte was seriously injured.
