Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray
CA

The Corvette was driven by a male in his 30s traveling southbound in afternoon rush hour traffic on August 11. A white four-door Ford F-150 pickup truck collided with the sportscar and landed on top, crushing the driver’s side completely and leaving only the left side, front-quarter unscathed. We wish we could report the same status for the driver of the ‘Vette. The Costa Mesa Fire Department commented he was transported to a nearby trauma center. They did not elaborate on the extent of his injuries, although the jaws of life were put to use to extract him from the car. The Orange County Register quoted Fire Captain Christ Coates as saying the driver was trapped inside the car while his passenger, a woman in her 30s, was able to get out of the car on her own. Coates continued by stating the driver needed to be cut out of the Corvette, and that the 30-minute ordeal was a tricky process.
