Ferrari F40
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Old photos from 2001 of a rare Ferrari F40 that crashed on the Federal Highway heading to Subang Airport, Malaysia. The car was driven by a mechanic out on a test drive after doing some repair works fixing damages from an earlier crash on the Batu Tiga Speedway race track. While driving at an excess of 180km/h in the wet, the driver lost control and spun out only to stop after hitting a palm tree. The driver was heavily injured and the passenger has slight bruises and scratches but both of them made a full recovery. Rumor has it the F40 was owned by Dato' Mokhzani Mahathir and after sending it back to the Ferrari factory for a full rebuild costing a cool RM1 million, the car was sold and now resides in Singapore where the supercar cannot be driven on the road because of Singapore's ban on left-hand-drive cars. |
