Ferrari California
CA

A 46-year-old San Jose man was killed Wednesday when he crashed a rented Ferrari on Highway 84, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as David Michael Wright. The collision was reported at 12:29 p.m. one mile west of Skyline Boulevard, said CHP Officer Art Montiel, adding that Wright was traveling westbound with a group of other high-end sports cars. Montiel said Wright “failed to negotiate” a left-hand turn and veered off the right side of the roadway. The black 2010 Ferrari California hit a redwood tree before coming to a rest on its wheels 100 feet from the roadway. Wright, meanwhile, was thrown from the sports car even though he was wearing his seatbelt, Montiel said. Emergency responders pronounced Wright dead at the scene. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the collision, which remains under investigation.
