Lamborghini Murcielago
Surrey, United Kingdom

Street racing charges have been laid against two drivers of high-end cars for their alleged involvement in a street race in Surrey, B.C. last December that sent a Lamborghini careening off a highway and smashing into a tree before it ended up in a ditch. The spectacular crash and street race between the drivers of a Lamborghini and a Dodge Viper, Dec. 22 on Highway 99 was captured on dash cam video. Surrey RCMP say Adam Shtay, 27, of Edmonton and Joshua Dally, 31, of Surrey, have now been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while street racing. When police arrived, they say Shtay was standing unhurt next to the 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago, and Dally as well as passengers of the Dodge Viper, were also nearby. During the course of their investigation, officers learned that the high-end cars reached speeds up to 157 km/h. Police officers have requested forfeiture of these vehicles as offence-related property if the pair are convicted of criminal charges. “Luckily no one was seriously injured. However, the consequences of such a high speed collision on a major arterial roadway in our city could have been catastrophic," said Sgt. Dale Carr.
